Urban growth should not be at the cost of green cover.

Vata Foundation is built on a simple belief: Trees that stand for decades should not fall in seconds. We step in where development pushes old trees out. From highways to high-rises, we rescue, relocate, and restore the trees that still have life left in them.

From a Single Tree to a Forest of Change

In 2010, while constructing a foot over bridge in Kukatpally, Hyderabad, Uday Krishna Peddireddi faced a decision: cut down 16 trees or find another way. Choosing the latter, he relocated the trees, with 13 surviving. This act sparked the inception of Vata Foundation in 2015, co-founded with Jyoti Konda. Since then, Vata has translocated over 5,000 trees across seven Indian states, achieving an impressive 85% survival rate. Their efforts extend beyond urban areas, including adopting the Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary in Maharashtra to support tiger habitats.

Not Tree Huggers. Just Tree Movers.

We are a small team of people who could not ignore the growing silence where trees once stood. What began with a handful of threatened trees in Hyderabad has grown into a movement across India. We are not idealists, we are doers. If a tree can be saved, we will try.

Join the Save the Tree Movement

Know a tree at risk? Reach out. Want to help? Volunteer or simply spread the word. This work is slow and tough, but it is also hopeful. With more hands, more hearts, and more eyes on the ground, we can give every tree under risk a second chance.
